          EAST ORANGE THUNDER (EOT) 2020 RETURN TO PLAY PLAN (COVID-19)Pre-Season Conditioning Plan (Phase 1 and 2)

The following plan has been prepared utilizing guidelines provided by USA Football, Orange County Public Schools and the CDC. 

PHASE I:

East Orange Thunder will not operate organized conditioning, practice, or play/games during a Phase I shutdown/quarantine.

PHASE II:

Practice and Training EOT:

  1. Football:
    1. NUMBERS/POPULATION:
      1. Football practices will be conducted outside in groups of up to 25 athletes per age group, and each group will be separated on different fields or different, designated sections of the field to accommodate social distancing (See Paragraph ii.), as divided below: 
        1. Ages 4-6;
        2. Ages 7-8;
        3. Ages 9-10;
        4. Ages 11-12
        5. Ages 13-14
  1. Each age group will be further broken down into groups of 5 to 10, and each group will move through conditioning and practice drills by using station based activities.  Coaches will focus on football movements and overall athleticism, running drills, unopposed without contact when possible. Drills run with communicable equipment will follow the sanitation practices outlined under preventative measures.
  1. All non EOT staff parents, guardians, and spectators will be required to stay in vehicles during practices to maintain more space for athletes and to lower population numbers at the fields.  Should an emergency with an athlete occur, the athlete’s parent/guardian will be called to the field, and must wear a face mask.
  1. Preventative Measures:
  1. Prior to every workout or practice, and before the athlete enters the practice field, either the head coach of said age group, or an Executive Board Member will process each athlete per group to check temperature, and check for Covid-19 symptoms. EOT will not allow athletes to participate in any activity if they’ve shown virus signs or symptoms, or have possibly been exposed to the virus in the past 14 days.
  2. In a case where an athlete is detected with symptoms, or has a fever of 100.4 degrees, or more; they will not be allowed to attend practice for at least 14 days.
  3. EOT staff will adhere to, and enforce, social distancing guidelines to maintain a six-foot distance between all players when not directly participating in practices.
  4. Face coverings (masks) will be required to be worn by all EOT Staff, and are optional for players during the scheduled conditioning.
  5. All players will bring their own water bottles (All water bottles will be at least 1.5 liters or 50 oz.) which will be labeled. No sharing will be allowed. Any athlete who presents to conditioning/practice without an adequate water supply as described in this paragraph above, will not be allowed to practice.
  6. Tackle players will not share personal equipment (helmets, shoulder pads, mouth guards, cleats, and padded pants). Athletes who present to practice without their own personal equipment will not be allowed to practice.
  7. EOT Staff will maintain sanitizing supplies on the field with each age level, consisting of an alcohol-based hand sanitizer and alcohol wipes available for players and staff.
  8. EOT recommends that all football players wear football gloves.

 

  1. Cheer:
    1. NUMBERS/POPULATION:
  1. Cheer practices will be conducted outside in groups of up to 25 athletes per age group, and each group will be separated on different fields or different, designated sections of the field to accommodate social distancing (See Paragraph ii.), as divided below: 
    1. Ages 4-6;
    2. Ages 7-8;
    3. Ages 9-10;
    4. Ages 11-12
    5. Ages 13-14

    6. Equipment shared between players, including but not limited to, cheer mats and other equipment, will be sanitized before, after, and in between each use, and will be sanitized as frequently as possible during practice.
    7. EOT Staff will maintain sanitizing supplies on the field with each age level, consisting of an alcohol-based hand sanitizer and alcohol wipes available for players and staff.

 PHASE III:

EOT will provide Phase III plans for practices and games, upon receipt of forthcoming guidelines, rules and recommendations from the Orange County Public Schools, the Florida High School Athletic Association and USA Football.
